  16. Some VESA/DMT timings have been adjusted to more closely match the VESA

  38. 1. Difference between the WHQL and the Turbo driver:
  39. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  40. Diamond Multimedia provides now 2 driver versions:. 
  41.   
  42.   1. The Microsoft certified WHQL driver:
  43.        This driver version has earned Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality 
  44.        Labs (WHQL) certification; ensuring stability and compatibility.
  45.  
  46.   2. The Performance / Turbo driver:
  47.        This driver version is based on the same source code as the WHQL
  48.        certified driver above, but provides performance improvements
  49.        by Diamond Multimedia.
  50.  
  51. If you should have any problems with your system, please use the 
  52. WHQL driver for verification.
  53.  
  54. 2. AGP support for Intel 440LX chipset  (Intel VGARTD.VXD)
  55. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  56.   To enjoy the benefits of an AGP motherboard in combination with your 
  57.   Viper V330 AGP, the following conditions have to be fulfilled:
  58.   - Microsoft Windows 95, Service Release 2.1 (OSR 2.1) is running.
  59.     This is OSR 2.0, updated with USBSUPP.EXE from Microsoft. This
  60.     update includes the USB supplement and a new memory manager
  61.     (VMM32.VXD) needed for the AGP Direct Memory Execute (DIME)
  62.     feature.
  63.   - Microsoft DirectX 5 runtime has to be installed.
  64.     DirectX 5 is the first DirectX version that supports AGP's DIME.
  65.     DirectX 5 will be installed during the driver installation for
  66.     your Viper V330.
  67.   - A virtual device manager enabling the DIME feature.
  68.     If you install the VIPER V330 AGP graphics card's Windows 95 driver,
  69.     please click the option "AGP support". This option installs Intel's
  70.     VGARTD.VXD (Virtual Graphics Address Remapping Table Driver) for
  71.     the Intel 440LX chipset. Without it your AGP graphics card is
  72.     unable to use DIME.
  73.  
  74.   If you have a different AGP chipset on your motherboard, please
  75.   install and use the *.vxd driver that your motherboard manufacturer
  76.   provides with the motherboard. Read the relevant installation
  77.   instructions first.

  80. 3. DirectX 5
  81. -----------------
  82. For proper function, you need to install the DirectX 5 runtime. If you get
  83. these drivers from a Diamond Multimedia Installation CD, the DirectX 5 
  84. runtime is included.

  90. 4. Known Limitations
  91. ------------------------------
  92.  
  93. The NVidia Riva 128 chip used on the Diamond Viper V330 requires an IRQ
  94. to function correctly.  If no IRQ has been assigned to the card by the motherboard
  95. BIOS you may experience symptoms such as Windows not booting, or extremely poor 
  96. performance.  Some motherboard BIOSes allow for an option to force an IRQ to the 
  97. VGA adapter.  Often the latest BIOS will also resolve this problem.  For further
  98. information please contact your motherboard manufacturer.

  100. When running the DXSETUP.EXE program (which comes with Microsoft's DirectX 
  101. application), the version of the Primary Display Driver will incorrectly be 
  102. displayed as: 0.00.00.0000.  This is an issue with the DXSETUP program.
  103. To get the correct driver information, run the DXINFO.EXE program from 
  104. within the same directory in which DXSETUP.EXE is found (on our CD the 
  105. directory is DirectX\DirectX5\DirectX).
